Introduction: What Does Decreasing Mean?

Let’s imagine you have ten cookies on a plate. You eat one cookie. Now you have nine cookies. You eat another cookie, and now you have eight cookies. The number of cookies is getting smaller – this is what we call decreasing!

Counting Backward

When numbers get smaller, we count backward. Let’s practice counting backward from 10:

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0

Think of it like a rocket launch countdown – we start from a bigger number and count down until blast off at zero!
