What are Prepositions?
Today we’re going to learn about some special words called prepositions. These are words that help us show where things are, when things happen, or how things are related to each other.
Think of prepositions as position words. They tell us:
– Where something is (in, on, under, between)
– When something happens (before, after, during)
– How things move (through, across, along)
Why do we use Prepositions?
Imagine trying to tell your friend where your pencil is without using words like “in,” “on,” or “under.” It would be very difficult! Prepositions help us:
– Give clear directions
– Explain time
– Show how things are connected

– I wake up at 7 o’clock.

How to Spot a Preposition
Here’s a fun trick! Prepositions often tell us where you can put a mouse:
– A mouse can go in a box
– A mouse can go on a shelf
– A mouse can go under a chair
If the word shows where a mouse can go, it’s probably a preposition!
