Today we’re going to learn something exciting – how to put numbers in order from smallest to biggest. Think of it like arranging your toy cars from the tiniest one to the biggest one!
Understanding Numbers
When we count, we say numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Each time we count up, the number gets bigger. For example, 3 is bigger than 2, and 4 is bigger than 3.
Let’s Practice Together
Imagine you have three cookies. Your friend has five cookies, and another friend has one cookie. If we want to put these numbers in order from smallest to biggest, we would write: 1, 3, 5
Here’s a fun way to remember: Think of climbing stairs. When we go up the stairs, we go higher and higher. That’s just like putting numbers in order – we start with the smallest (bottom stair) and go up to the biggest (top stair)!
Try This!
Let’s look at these numbers: 2, 7, 4
To put them in order, we first find the smallest number (2)
Then we find the next bigger number (4)
Finally, we put the biggest number (7)
So the answer is: 2, 4, 7
Fun Number Game
When you’re at home, try this! Look at the numbers on your clock. Can you tell which number comes after 5? Which number is bigger, 3 or 6? This is a great way to practice!
Remember:
– When numbers get bigger, they come later in our counting
– The number that comes later when we count is always bigger
– When putting numbers in order, we start with the smallest and work our way up to the biggest
Keep practicing, and soon you’ll be a master at arranging numbers from smallest to biggest.
