The Birthday Surprise
Emma woke up early on Saturday morning to a wonderful smell coming from the kitchen. Her mother was baking her favorite chocolate cake for her tenth birthday. The kitchen counter was covered with sprinkles, frosting, and colorful candles. Her little brother Tommy was trying to help, but he had gotten flour all over his face and clothes. Later that day, twelve friends came over for Emma’s party. They played games in the backyard, ate delicious cake, and sang the birthday song.
