Sometimes, we don’t want to keep repeating names. Imagine saying, “Riya likes to play. Riya plays with her doll. Riya laughs a lot.” That’s a bit much, isn’t it? That’s where pronouns come in! Pronouns are words that take the place of a noun (a person, place, thing, or idea).

Today, we’re going to learn about Personal Pronouns. These pronouns are used to talk about ourselves and other people.

  • I: Use “I” when you’re talking about yourself. Example: I like to read.
  • You: Use “You” when you’re talking to someone. Example: You are a good friend.
  • He: Use “He” when you’re talking about a boy or man. Example: He plays football.
  • She: Use “She” when you’re talking about a girl or woman. Example: She sings beautifully.
  • It: Use “It” when you’re talking about a thing or animal. Example: The cat likes its food.
Note- If we know the gender of the animal (typically in case of a pet animal), then we can use he/she for the animal. Example: Juhi has a pomeranian bitch. She is brown.
  • We: Use “We” when you’re talking about yourself and others. Example: We go to school together.
  • They: Use “They” when you’re talking about more than one person or thing. Example: They are playing in the park.
