The Journey of a Raindrop

Drip. Drip. Drop. I feel myself falling from a heavy cloud, along with my fellow raindrops. My journey has begun! I was once part of a vast ocean, resting peacefully under the golden sun. But as the heat touched my surface, I felt lighter, rising into the sky as invisible vapor. This process is called evaporation.

As I soared higher, I joined countless other water droplets. Together, we formed fluffy, white clouds drifting through the sky. Soon, the air around us turned cold, and we huddled close, clinging to dust particles. This process, called condensation, turned us into tiny water droplets again. The cloud grew heavier, and soon, it could no longer hold us. Gravity pulled us down—this was precipitation.

I tumbled through the sky, swaying with the wind, and finally landed on a vast green field. The soft soil welcomed me as I seeped underground, joining an underground stream. Some of my friends flowed into rivers, while others settled in lakes and ponds. As groundwater, I traveled deep beneath the earth, moving through tiny spaces between rocks.

Days passed before I found myself being drawn up through the roots of a grand oak tree. The tree needed water to survive, and I was happy to help! I traveled through its stem, reaching the highest leaves. When the sun shone brightly, I felt myself turn into vapor again, rising into the sky through the process of transpiration.

And so, my journey continued—an endless cycle of adventure, movement, and transformation. I never truly disappear; I simply change form, always traveling through nature in an incredible cycle known as the water cycle.
