I have a little mirror,
So magical and clear,
That everything I see in it
Seems twice as near and dear.
I see the green leaves waving,
And the birds that fly so high,
And the great big golden sun up there
In the blue, blue sky.
I see the flowers smiling,
With their faces to the sun,
And I see the little children
Playing, everyone.
I see the old white duckling
With her brood of yellow chicks,
And I see the little rabbit
Running after sticks.
Oh, when I look into my glass,
So magical and clear,
I see all the lovely things
That are twice as near and dear!
These poems reflect Enid Blyton’s ability to capture the wonder and imagination of childhood, weaving magical and whimsical themes into her verses.
