What is a Sentence?
A sentence is a group of words that gives us a complete meaning. It expresses a complete thought that we can understand. Just like a story needs a beginning and an end, a sentence needs certain parts to make sense. It begins with a capital letter and ends with a full stop (.) or a question mark (?).
Let’s look at some examples:
– The cat sleeps. (This tells us what the cat is doing)
– Birds fly in the sky. (This tells us where birds fly)
– My sister reads books. (This tells us what my sister does)
-I like comics.
-Mira is going to the store.
-Who is your sister?
-Have you finished your lunch?
But remember, not all groups of words make a sentence:
– Cat the (These words don’t make sense together)
– Flying birds the (This doesn’t give us a complete thought)
